Tustin, CA – Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris hosted the 2nd annual ThanksGiveaway at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Tustin, distributing 300 turkeys and meal bags to constituents in the 73rd Assembly District from Costa Mesa, Irvine and Tustin, as well as clients of Human Options and HomeAid Orange County.
“At a time when far too many families are feeling the strain of rising costs, this event is about making sure our neighbors feel supported and valued,” said Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Irvine). “Seeing volunteers, partners, and families come together reminds us what community is all about — showing up for one another. I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped us ensure more Orange County families can celebrate Thanksgiving with comfort and dignity.”
Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris partnered with Sabil USA and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County to organize the ThanksGiveaway event. These organizations work year-round to address food and nutritional insecurity in Orange County by helping families get access to healthy, nourishing food.
“It is truly inspiring to see elected leaders who stay connected to the community, understand the challenges families are facing, and take meaningful action to support them,” said Samar Aziz, CEO of Sabil USA. “Their hands-on involvement speaks volumes. We are grateful for our partnership with the Assemblywoman and extend our sincere thanks to the contributors and sponsors for their vital support in making this distribution possible.”
Volunteers joining the Assemblywoman at the Turkey Giveaway included community members from the Automobile Club of Southern California, SoCalGas, Rotary Club of Tustin-Santa Ana, and Aldersgate United Methodist Church. This year’s sponsors include Automobile Club of Southern California, SoCalGas, City of Hope Orange County, California Apartment Association and California Resources Corporation.
